Advanced Program
The Advanced Program continues the comprehensive music education your child enjoyed in the Suzuki Program throughout their teen years. You should be especially proud that your student has continued and excelled to this point! Music from the pre-professional and professional repertoire is selected for study based on your child's musical activities and needs. Field trips to the areas rich concert series offerings are offered to our top students. Students at this level usually participate in the area's youth orchestras as well as all-city, all county, and all state orchestra opportunities through their public school programs. This program is designed to meet the specific musical and developmental needs of each advanced student and their family. The unique and special courses offered this level are individualized and specially designed to enable your child to achieve their highest potential. Our directors provide ongoing coaching to help you navigate extra activities such as camps and competitions, when appropriate. Bi-annual consultations with the directors provide the opportunity to offer personalized guidance in planning your child’s musical path. Classes are available on weekdays and weekends according to faculty availability. Non-TESS students may audition for placement in group and chamber classes without changing private teachers.
Group classes are selected from the course offerings for Alternative Music and the Advanced Program courses listed below. Advanced students are still invited and expected to participate in TESS Community Performances and may occasionally be given their own performances as opportunities arise.
Home practice and lessons are independent at this level although parents remain an integral part of the educational planning. TESS Advanced Program students continue to perform in Student Recitals and Advanced Recitals as well as take part in the Improv Workshop every January.
It is not necessary to study privately at TESS and still participate in the group class offerings at this level. We are a musical resource for all young musicians in support of the admirable efforts of all of the private and public school teachers in Fairfield County.
