Looking for some Winter Inspiration?! Beat the Winter Blues! TESS has a series of workshops this winter for guitarists, pianists,and violinists sponsored by the Advanced Program!

February 27 & 28 - Adam Kossler, Guitar

Workshop hours: Saturday, 11:30-5:00 at TESS

Guitar Concert: Sunday, 4:00pm, Grace Episcopal Church in Norwalk

Adam Kossler began his musical studies with the violin at the age of two years old at the Suzuki Institute in Matsumoto, Japan. At the age of three he began studying guitar with his father, William Kossler. Throughout high school Adam was active as both a performer and teacher in his hometown of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He received his undergraduate degree in guitar performance with Dr. Elliot Frank, at East Carolina University. He received a master’s degree at Appalachian State University.

As a teacher, Adam has taught throughout the United States and Canada at music workshops and institutes. He has taught as a faculty member at the Colorado Suzuki Institute (Snow Mass, CO), and Music in the Mountains Suzuki Institute (Emory VA), among others. Adam is currently residing in Tallahassee FL where he teaches, performs and studies at Florida State University as Bruce Holzman’s Teaching Assistant and is pursuing a DMA in Guitar Performance.

March 20 & 21- Christopher Liccardo, Piano

Christopher Liccardo has taught, performed and lectured at institutes and workshops throughout the United States and Canada. He has been a member of the piano faculty at the Lawrence Eisman Center for Preparatory Studies in Music at Queens College in New York City since 1986 and is the founder and coordinator of the Suzuki piano program, which he began in 1987. Christopher also maintains a substantial private studio. His students have won numerous awards and prizes in local, state and national competitions. They have been featured in master classes at the Suzuki Association of the Americas national conferences, and have performed with orchestra as winners of concerto competitions.

Christopher is a graduate of the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, CUNY, with Bachelors and Masters degrees in piano performance. As a performer, he has appeared at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center, Lefrak Concert Hall and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Mr. Liccardo is a contributor to the book, 10 Teacher’s Viewpoints on Suzuki Piano. He is also past president of the Associated Music Teachers League.

April 24 - Katie Lansdale, Violin

Visiting Artist Solo Recital by Ms. Lansdale, 2:15-2:45 at TESS

Katie Lansdale will be giving a workshop for students book five and up! Only nine students may participate and slots will be given on a first come, first-served basis. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the Hartt Music School at the University of Hartford. A long-time member of the Lion's Gate Trio, she has been lauded as both chamber musician and soloist. Winner of Grand Prizes at the Fischoff and Yellow Springs national chamber competitions, she has performed as a soloist with orchestras including the National Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony, the Austin Mozart Festival Orchestra, the New York Repertory Orchestra, and Cleveland Chamber Symphony and the New York Spectrum Orchestra. Lansdale has performed in South and Central America, as well as Europe, and on numerous North American recital series, including the Caramoor Series, the Phillips Collection, and Lincoln Center's Rose Room.

In New York, where she founded the acclaimed new music group, the Locrian Chamber Players, Lansdale's chamber concerts have been extensive. As violin clinician and professor, Ms. Lansdale has taught at many summer festivals including Tanglewood and Aria International (Canada). In demand for lecture-demos on solo Bach works, she has made such presentations at the national conferences for American String Teachers and Suzuki Association of the Americas; Carnegie-Mellon University (PA); Longy School and Boston University (MA); University of Oklahoma; Catholic University (MD); and Cordoba String Course (Argentina), among others. She holds degrees from Yale University, Cleveland Institute of Music (Master of Music), and Manhattan School (DMA, prize for outstanding dissertation).
