Repertoire
Level 1 - Graduation from Suzuki Book 5 (or equivalent)
Complete a minimum of five selections from Supplemental Repertoire list
Levels 2 - 4 should complete the repertoire requirements from the previous level(s).
Scales and Arpeggios
Level 1
Scales: minimum of G, A-flat, A, B-flat, B, C, D-flat, D, E-flat and E Major -- all three-octave
Arpeggios: minimum of G
Levels 2 - 4 should complete the Scale requirements from previous level(s)
Technique
Level 1 should have, at a minimum, begun Kayser, 36 Elementary and Progressive Studies. Op. 20 and Trott, Melodious Double Stops, Book 1.
Levels 2 - 4 should complete technique requirements from previous level(s)
Chamber Experience
A minimum of one semester of chamber music or ensemble experience is necessary. Involvement in local youth symphonies is a wonderful way to gain exposure to ensemble playing, as well as meeting new people!
*Note: Should any student be accepted into the AYA Program without completion of one (no more than 2) of the prerequisites, they will have the opportunity to complete the prerequisites during their first year of study. |
