Becki Christopherson, founder and music director, has a life-long history of participation in the Suzuki movement. Raised as a Suzuki student in both violin and piano, she received her Bachelor of Violin Performance from The Ohio State University with minors in piano and cello. Her mother, Ginny Christopherson, is a Suzuki Violin teacher and trained Becki from an early age in administration and teaching. Miss Christopherson taught at the Capital University Suzuki Program until 1995, where her students won many awards and competitions. She relocated to Woodbridge, CT to be the music director of the Bethwood Suzuki School. She was also the founder and music director of the Suzuki school in Westport, CT until 2005. Becki has received teacher training through The Suzuki Association of the Americas in both violin and piano, and studied with Dr. Suzuki as a child. She is a member of the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra. She was the founder of the Norwalk Advisory Commission on the Arts and Culture and currently serves as Secretary. She also is an active member of the Greater Norwalk Chamber of Commerce and sits on the Small Business Council. She was a 2009 recipient of the 40 Under 40 Emerging Business Leaders Award sponsored by the Fairfield County Business Journal. As a volunteer she runs the Children's Stage in the Children's Art Playground at the SoNo Celebration each August in Norwalk.
