Violin:
Your child wll be measured for their violin at the first group classes, and it will be ordered from David Segal Violins (New York City) on your behalf. Payment is due upon receipt of the violin. It is advisable to add your child's instrument to your homewoners insurance if its value exeeds the deductible on your plan. Tess assumes no liability or responsibility for the violin; any concerns must be addressed with David Segal Violins directly. It is your responsibility to see that the violin remains in good condition during that repairs, new strings, or other work you may have done does not add to the value of the violin but is simply standard maintenance. When your child has grown and is finished with the violin, David Segal Violins will buy it back according to their terms. It is recommended that your family visit David Segal Violins to try out various violins when purchasing the next size.

guitar.jpgGuitar:
Guitarists under the age of six can order the smallest guitar from Young Musicians, www.ymonline.com, as well as a Mammut Children’s Stool (www.ikea.com). It is highly recommended that the beginning student purchase a hand made guitar with a hard case from luthier Moreno Moore,www.morenomoore.cl/english/suzuki.html.
piano.jpgPiano:
Students must have an acoustic piano for piano lessons, not an electronic keyboard. We recommend Steinway & Sons in Westport or Fry's Westport/Fairfield Piano and Organ. Both establishments offer rent-to-own programs, excellent salespeople, quality instruments, and fair pricing.
cello.jpgCello:
Students may rent or buy their cello from Johnson Strings. The teacher may also recommend other supplies needed to begin studies. At the first lesson, your child will be measured for the appropriate size to order.
flute.jpgFlute:
Young students will purchase student flutes with curved head joints to accommodate their arm length. Students will be measured at their first lesson. Flutes can be ordered from Cincinnati Flute Works.
